About Wattsburg Home

Who We Are

Our District

The Wattsburg Area School District (WASD) spans 144 square miles in a scenic rural region of Erie County, serving the townships of Amity, Greene, Greenfield, and Venango, along with the borough of Wattsburg. As the geographic and social center of this wide reaching community, the district is viewed as a vital hub for families, activities, and services.
WASD is the area’s largest employer, with approximately 200 dedicated staff members. Local tax revenues are supported by key community partners, including Lake Erie Speedway and Auto Express. Residents also benefit from access to four regional hospitals within a 45 minute drive and five nearby colleges that enrich educational and cultural opportunities.

Our Schools

The district educates approximately 1,300 students across three schools situated conveniently on a centralized campus. Wattsburg Area Elementary Center serves about 500 students, providing a strong educational foundation for young learners. Wattsburg Area Middle School enrolls roughly 400 students in a developmental and learner centered environment. Seneca High School, also serving around 400 students, offers comprehensive high school programming designed to prepare graduates for college, career, and life.

WASD provides a full continuum of services for all students:

  • Gifted programming is offered at both the elementary and middle school, while the high school provides a strong array of academic enrichment opportunities, including honors courses, Advanced Placement classes, and multiple dual enrollment options available at Seneca High School through Robert Morris University and off campus at nearby universities.
  • Students interested in career and technical education may attend the Erie County Technical School (ECTS) for half day programming while taking the remainder of their coursework at Seneca High School.
  • Specialized programs, including autistic support, life skills programming, and emotional support services are provided districtwide.
  • Full complement of athletics and extracurricular activities is offered, providing students  at all levels with opportunities to grow, lead, and explore personal interests.
